MECC 2011 Professional Theatre and Music Season

The Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre 2011 Professional Theatre & Music Season was launched last night to an excited audience who attended the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre to find out what is on offer in 2011 and take advantage of being the first people to book their seats.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, Breezes Mackay, and media partners Channel 7, 4MK and the Daily Mercury, the Season line up boasts a great selection of entertainment for young and old alike.

Mackay residents and visitors to our region no longer need to venture to a capital city to get their dose of culture. Some of Australia’s leading companies and actors as well as a few international acts will be gracing the stage at the MECC in 2011.

Iconic Australian companies including Bell Shakespeare, Circus Oz, ACO2 and Bangarra Dance Theatre are on offer, along with household names such as Reg Livermore, Nancye Hayes and Steve Bisley.

The MECC is also proud to present The Searchers direct from the UK who are touring select cities in Australia and The Creole Choir of Cuba who hail from Haiti and will uplift audiences with their remarkable voices and talent.

A great selection of children’s entertainment is also available including Patch Theatre Company’s Happiest Show on Earth, My Grandma Lived in Gooligulch, and a family pantomime Snow White & the Seven Cool Dudes.

With prices much lower than capital cities thanks to funding through the Federal Government’s Playing Australia Funding and Arts Queensland Mackay audiences can see the very best theatre right here on their doorstep.

Tickets for all shows in the 2011 Season are now available from the MECC or online at www.mackaytix.com.au
