Last year we had a remarkable 30-year celebration of the Mackay Mazda Festival of Arts. It was huge. In fact, we were all saying it will be hard to beat. But when you see what the team has in store for this year, you will see that the 2018 Mackay Mazda Festival of Arts will be bigger and better.
The Festival kicks off with a giant luxury European Wonderland Spiegeltent where we will see shows featuring family-friendly circus, sensational acrobatics, operatic cabaret and some tongue-in-cheek burlesque.
There’s also the world-class Né: Roi Ballet. Né: Roi combines local musical talent with international dancing stars. It features a music score written by our very own local composer David Pyke and stars internationally renowned ballet dancers, including Rainer Krenstetter of the Miami Ballet, Lucette Aldous AC and many, many others.
And, if that’s not enough, the spectacle of light and art is back, building on the popularity of last year’s DBCT Illuminate in the Botanic Gardens. This year you’ll be amazed by the exciting new designs and creations.
Of course, the G&S Wine and Food Day is on again at Queens Park. It is just the best day with great food, the best music and a perfect environment to relax with family and friends.
Our Festivals team has once again done a tremendous job and this year’s Festival could well be the best yet! So mark your calendar, invite your friends and family from out of town, and help us celebrate our outstanding local arts, music, food and culture at the 2018 Mackay Mazda Festival of Arts.
- Mayor Greg Williamson
Mackay Regional Council
Welcome to Mackay for this year’s Mackay Mazda Festival of Arts 2018.
This festival is a celebration of everything that is unique to the Mackay region – its people, places and produce.
For 10 days, locals and visitors can experience one of the largest visual and performing arts festivals in Queensland and wine and food events that hero the region’s local produce.
There is a story to tell in every Queensland destination event and I hope these stories help inspire you to experience the best address on earth.
The Palaszczuk Government recognises the importance of events to drive tourism, boost the state’s economy and support local communities and we are proud to support this event through Tourism and Events Queensland’s Destination Events Program.
Congratulations to the event organisers, volunteers and all those involved in ensuring the Mackay Mazda Festival of Arts 2018 is a success. I encourage all visitors to take some time to explore the Mackay region.
