If you loved The Gruffalo, don’t miss the sequel – The Gruffalo’s Child.  Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s bestselling book is coming to the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre stage.

One wild and windy night the Gruffalo’s child ignores her father’s warning and tiptoes out into the snow.  After all, the Big Bad Mouse doesn’t really exist, does he? 

This show is full of songs, laughs and scary fun for children aged 4 and up, and their adult companions. 

The Gruffalo’s Child is the first of four children’s performances coming to Mackay in 2012 as part of the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal’s Children’s Theatre Season.  Other shows coming up include James and the Giant Peach, I Bunyip, and Happy Birthday Peter Rabbit.

It’s all part of the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre’s charter to help children in the region discover the magic of live theatre with their families. 

Teaming up with Mackay Regional Council libraries, the best-selling children’s novel The Gruffalo’s Child will be featured at Children’s Story Time at Gordon White Library on Friday January 27 at 9.30am, and at storytimes at all Council libraries during the week 14  -17  February just prior to the show.    
This fantastic initiative allows children get to experience a live performance as well as a literary experience, and this certainly encourages youngsters to want to read.   Special activities such as colouring in competitions, word hunts and children’s quizzes about the Gruffalo will also be part of the day.

Prior to the live performances, the Gruffalo will be making special appearances around Mackay!  Perhaps you’ll get a chance to see him in your travels?

* Friday January 27th > Storytime at the Gordon White Library starting at 9.30am
* Periodic visits to Caneland Shopping Centre
* Saturday January 28th > Outside Sportspower between 9 – 12
* At story times at all Council Libraries furing the week 14  -17  February
